Last night, many kids nationwide were introduced to Cory and Topanga Matthews for the first time, while '90s kids were hit with nostalgia as the Disney Channel premiered 'Girl Meets World.'

Heading into the debut episode, television critics' reviews for 'Girl Meets World' were mostly positive. According to Metacritic, the show received an average score of 64 out of 100 by journalists, which is enough for the site to deem the show worthy of being watched.

'Girl Meets World' is Disney Channel's sequel to 'Boy Meets World,' which aired from 1993 to 2000. 'Girl Meets World' reunites Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as Cory and Topanga Matthews raising their two young children. The show focuses on their daughter, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), who is just starting the seventh grade in the premiere. Together with her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), they learn the joys and hardships of what it's like to be teenagers.
