Governor and Mrs. LePage want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped out this year with the governor’s annual food drive. Maine's first family says the food drive in which donors dropped off non-perishables at the Blaine House brought in about 1,568 pounds of food for Maine families.

They say that is triple last year's total.  Gov. LePage and First Lady Ann LePage received donations at the governor's mansion each of the last three Saturdays. The LePages say that food will be filling the cupboards of Mainers in need within the week. The food will go to the Good Shepherd Food Bank for distribution around the state of Maine. The food will then be picked-up by food pantries and meal programs.

If you missed the food drive you can still help. You can donate to your local food pantry or soup kitchen. You can also make a cash donation. When you make a cash donation to the Good Shepard Food Bank, the buying power of your one dollar then becomes equal to eight dollars. You can even donate to the Good Shepard Food Bank online. It does not get any easier that that to help this holiday season.
