Greg Michaels’ Pondering the Ripple Effects of Question 1 in Portland

As you know today is election day. There is the state bond issue ballot but there are also municipal elections for town hall ward representatives, school board, mayor and yes/no voting on initiatives.

What I'm most intrigued about is Question 1 in Portland which asks voters to approve recreational use of marijuana. If the question passes, does that mean that there will be droves of people flocking to Portland to party? Would people move there because it's legal? I wonder what the ripple effect will be.

It will be interesting if it passes. Just something to think about. The rest of Maine would be dry for recreational use. I bet there would be a huge influx of people heading to the city for weekends just to party. What do you think? Parents. If your teen says they're going to Portland to shop, I'd ask what for.
