Just over a week ago, Amazon fervently denied reports that its three-year HBO deal would expire in May, removing access to all-time HBO greats like The Wire or Six Feet Under. The confusion was attributed to technical error, but reports now confirm the deal will actually expire in 2018.

Vulture again reports that Amazon Prime subscribers will eventually face the sudden departure of beloved series like True Blood, Deadwood, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Eastbound & Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage and more. HBO CEO Richard Plepler told investors as much, noting that the company had no intent to renew the Amazon deal after its May 2018 expiration.

All series will still be available on HBO’s various outlets, and it’s worth noting that the premium cable service didn’t have an HBO Now option for cord-cutters at the time of its original Amazon agreement.

There’s every chance that Amazon might have a slew of original programming or alternatives by May 2018, but get to watching some of those great series, if you don’t spring for HBO itself.
