Maine has fallen in the latest annual 'healthiest state survey.' The Pine Tree state is now the 20th unhealthiest state, falling from 16th last year.

The dip is attributed in part to increases in infant mortality and whooping cough, and a decline in childhood immunizations.

The survey is conducted annually by America’s Health Rankings. They are funded by the nonprofit United Health Foundation. They compile 30 measurements for each state, including the percentage who have health insurance, infectious disease rates, binge drinking, physical inactivity, violent crime, children living in poverty and the number of dentists per capita.

Maine was also last in the rankings for new England. See the survey here.
