With winter still offically over a month away, prices of heating oil in Maine increased another penny per gallon this week to an average of $3.76 per gallon. The Governor's Energy Office reports that prices are 25 cents a gallon higher than a year ago.

Kerosene prices remain at an average of $4.19 per gallon and propane was up 3 cents from a week ago, to $2.67 a gallon. The U.S. Energy Information Administration last week projected that heating costs in households that use oil would be higher this winter than any winter on record.
