What sad news to wake up to this morning.  A local horse, from Canaan, named Lucy was tied in her front yard grazing on grass.  She wasn't even near the road.  When suddenly, according to Sierra Miner (owner), a distracted driver swerved onto the front yard hitting Lucy and then dragging the horse nearly a mile down the road.

Witnesses state Lucy tried to escape and was finally released from the car down the road where she later died from her injuries.  Sierra is simply devastated by this, wondering how someone could know or not know they were dragging a thousand pound animal and then to just leave Lucy in the road to die.
