I know I don't have any baseball cards quite this old, but I do often wonder what my thousands and thousands of cards collecting dust in my basement are worth. A rare 1888 Boston Beaneaters King Kelly baseball card found in Kennebunk is going to be auctioned off tonight by Saco River Auction in Biddeford. Bidding begins at 5pm and is expected to attract collectors from across the country. A similar card 5 years ago sold for $72,000 in a private sale five years ago.

King Kelly is often credited with helping to popularize various strategies as a player such as the hit and run, the hook slide, and the catcher's practice of backing up first base. In only the second vote since its creation in 1939 the Old Timers Committee elected Kelly to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945.
