I Have Been to One of the Best Sports Bars in America!

CNN has compiled a list of "The Best Sports Bars in America. Strangely Maine doesn’t have one on the list. Lately it seems as though many of these “Best in America” lists have a Maine business.

I have however been to the Cask 'N Flagon in Boston.

I will tell my story as it is station related. Back in August of 2001, a few of us from the Moose went to see Madonna at TD Garden then known as the Fleet Center. It was a station bus trip so Jon James, Renee Nelson, my wife Lynn and I went down to Boston for the show.

We get to “The Fleet” as it was known then early; we decide we want to see Fenway Park even though the Sox were out of town that day. While over at Fenway, all four of roll into the Cask 'N Flagon and have a bite.

Weirdly the subway was packed but the bar was empty. I found that the oddest thing that the Cask 'N Flagon was dead. I know it fills up quickly before games but who knew when the Sox were out of town it would be quiet.

It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be too. Cool joint to say you’ve been but beer is beer and sports bars are sports bars.
