As the weather warms up, more and more ice cream and frozen custard places open up. I really want to try that new place in Manchester, Fielder's Choice. It always looks busy and it is on my way home from work.

Of the ice cream shops or "shoppes" as the case may be I've tried, I like the one I mentioned over the weekend, Hodgman's Frozen Custard in New Gloucester. I'm also a fan of Dairy Joy on Spring St. in Auburn and Sundaes on Center St. in Auburn, a place that's locally owned and open year round with inside seating .

Dairy Queen on Minot Ave in Auburn is always good as well. I remember back to my first Blizzard. I want to say it was 1987-1988. It was at a DQ in a food court at a mall back in Halifax. I cannot remember what kind was my first; I want to say it was an M&M (Smarties- a Canadian type M&M) Blizzard.  Now I always get the cookie dough Blizzard. Got to love a Blizzard. What kind is your favorite? What place do you go the most?

And don't forget summer is coming and so are the sounds of "Turkey in the Straw" slowly driving through the neighborhood and while that infectious jingle plays kids will beg their parents for money. I've already seen an ice cream van this season once but they'll be out in full force before you know it.
