Ellen Wells is an old friend. She's good people and she's amazing! That was quite evident to all who attended the Winter Carnival this past Saturday at Waterville's Quarry Road Recreation Area, hosted by Inland Hospital! She's one of the key people who, along with the city of Waterville, executed this event.

The weather Saturday was about a perfect a winter day as you can get and the throngs descended on Quarry Road Recreation Area in Waterville. And they kept coming all throughout the event...by the carload and the busload!

As kids and adults road fat-tired bikes on the tightly packed snow, others slid on a nearby hill or cross-country skied on the many miles of trails at the beautiful, city-managed area.

There were also dogsled rides and snowshoeing along with free food provided by Laura Benedict of Augusta's Red Barn and by MaineGeneral's food service. I must say I was very excited to see my friend Joy McKenna of MaineGeneral all smiles about the new partnership formed between the hospitals. As one person said, it's "cooper-tition." Nice.

Finally, a personal thanks to the wonderful people who came by to wish me well as my journey here at 92 Moose ends in a couple of weeks. The connection with you is what I'm going to miss the most.
