It's astounding to think that nearly a quarter of the way through the current season of 'How I Met Your Mother,' we still don't know if CBS will strike a deal that prevents it from being the last year for Ted, Robin, Barney Marshall and Lily.  Still, 'HIMYM' creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas might have more on their plate to worry about, as FOX has just drastically cut the initial order for their follow-up sitcom 'The Goodwin Games,' but why?  Will the series ever see the light of day?

Troubling news for 'How I Met Your Mother' creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, as FOX has halted production on their new sitcom 'The Goodwin Games,' significantly reducing the episode order from a standard 13 to a paltry 7.  According to TVLine, the reduction doesn't reflect on FOX's faith in the series however, but rather a scheduling issue created from ordering additional episodes of both 'New Girl' and 'The Mindy Project.'

Still scheduled to debut its limited run at mid-season, 'The Goodwin Games' follows three estranged siblings (Becki Newton, Scott Foley and TJ Miller) who are forced to work together in order to inherit their late father’s fortune.  While further orders remain up in the air, it's likely at least the initial 7 will manage to make it to air.  Meanwhile, series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas continue work on the (potentially) final season of 'How I Met Your Mother.'

What say you?  Do you think 'The Goodwin Games' will end up a flop?  Are you willing to sacrifice it for more 'New Girl' and 'The Mindy Project?'
