It Was 16 Years Ago That Princess Diana Died

Do you remember where you were on this day back in 1997? Today is one of those days you remember where you were when you heard the news.

It was 16 years ago today and I was running American Top 40 with Casey Kasem on the Moose. While doing so I was outback on the deck taking break during a segment or getting a van ready for a live broadcast. This is the day that Princess Diana died in that car crash after being chased by the paparazzi.

How did we hear? B98.5's Program Director at the time, Lisa Allen came out to the back deck after ripping the story off of the AP machine and told me what had happened.  It was certainly one of the more shocking news days I had back in that era during my first time employed at the station.
