It’s Going To Be a ‘Fair’ Weekend

The Litchfield Fair is a central Maine favorite and runs this Friday through Sunday. The rides, smell of food in the air (good, unhealthy food) and games (which I rarely play…but a fair wouldn’t be the same without them).
Again this year, Renee, Mac and I will be judges for the apple pie contest. Ted and Muriel Smith, who ask us yearly, know the only payment we need to show up for the event is the apple pie each of us get to take home! The contest, by the way, is Friday evening at 6pm.
Also this weekend (beginning tomorrow) is the Clinton Lions Fair. Gate opens at 3pm and the $15 ride all you want bracelets go on sale at 4:30.
OK…here are my favorite memories of each fair. The Litchfield Fair is where my son Matt went on his first ride….the merry-go-round. The Clinton Lions Fair is where, back in the mid 80s, I had the BEST fair meal I’d had before or have had since. Homemade American Chop Suey and a big, warm, buttery yeast roll. I think I may have also had the munchies that day. I can’t remember.
