Police in Waltham, MA have arrested the son of famed Red Sox radio announcer Jerry Remy, and have accused him of murdering his girlfriend. Jared Remy was arraigned and ordered held without bail on a murder charge.
Jared Remy's girlfriend, 27-year-old Jennifer Martel, was found stabbed to death on the patio of their Waltham apartment late Thursday.

Remy had been arrested at the same apartment on Tuesday and charged with assault and battery, but he was released on his own recognizance Wednesday. The couple's four-year-old daughter was not hurt and was placed in the custody of child welfare officials.

Remy was also involved in a steroid scandal in 2009, when he was released from his Fenway Park security job.

Jared's dad, Rod Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, has taken a leave of absence from the Sox broadcast booth. He is expected to remain on leave through at least next weekend. It is unclear when Remy will return, but NESN associates have told the press that they expect him to return this season.

Jerry Remy issued a statement on his Twitter account this weekend, saying: "Words cannot describe my wife's and my grief," Jerry Remy wrote. "Son or not, I am at loss for words articulating my disgust and remorse over this senseless and tragic act."

In the mean time, some of the victim's relatives are speaking out to the media. Richard Martel Jr., told ABC News that there were warning signs of danger between her and Remy.

"He never let her go out anywhere, he wanted her for himself," he said. "She's dead now, and I predicted it to my friends."
