John Farrell is expected to be named Monday or Tuesday as the next manager of the The Boston Red Sox. Farrell spent the last two seasons as the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays and was the Red Sox pitching coach from 2007-10. As Toronto manager he was 154-170.

Reports are that compensation will include shortstop Mike Aviles going to Toronto. Aviles batted .250 with 13 home runs and a .663 OPS last year for Boston. The Red Sox will also receive an as yet to be named player from the Blue Jays to complete the trade for Farrell.
