Talent, swimsuit and all the rest aside, this part of the competition was unfair. Miss South Carolina, Daja Dial, was asked if she would support a "military style assault weapon ban." Her response wasn't delayed or politically correct. She said, "no." Then she, articulately, explained why.

The winner, Betty Cantrell of Georgia, got a softball question, so to speak. She was asked about deflategate. She wasn't nearly as articulate. But who would she expect to be? It was a dumb question. It was also not politically charged, like Dial's was.

Had Dial answered with a "no," would the judges have looked on her more favorably. In my opinion, yes or, at least, maybe.

Let me state, matter of FACTly, assault weapons DO NOT EXIST! Only among the Hollywood types (as Amy Purdy clearly is) and anti-gun politicians. It is a term made up in the eighties by politicians with an anti-gun agenda. Again, this is not my opinion, it is a fact.

Miss South Carolina, not the winner:

Miss Georgia, the winner:

Is this even a fair competition?
