Kanye West just learned a very valuable lesson, thanks to Donald Trump — if you befriend a scorpion, you're bound to get stung.

Though West has been outspokenly in support of the President-elect, and stopped by Trump Tower in December 2016 to discuss a handful of social issues, Trump spokesman Tom Barrack Jr. proved in a new CNN interview that the friendship is likely a one-way street. While the better part of the entertainment industry seems to have been invited to perform at Trump's inauguration tomorrow (January 20), West received no such invite, Barrack Jr. said, because Kanye falls short of a certain Trump-standard.

"We haven't asked him" Barrack Jr. said. "He's been great and he considers himself a friend to the President-elect, but it's not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it's perfect, it's gonna be typically and traditionally American."

Wow. Also, it bears mentioning that Michael Flatley — who's famous for performing Irish dance — is the latest addition to the Trump inauguration's performance lineup.

In November 2016, West told a crowd at a San Jose, California show that he didn't vote, but felt validated that Trump had been elected.

"This is about the idea of a black guy liking Trump,” he continued. “They thought they had me because…just because I was black or just because I was a celebrity. But Trump is our president. And that would’ve been my vote, so I feel right."
