Despite Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy's split, her alleged obsession with the clan is still paying off. The 'Red' singer will still be honored by the family, nabbing the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights' Ripple of Hope Award.

Swift will be honored at a gala on Dec. 3 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. It seems like it may be an awkward outing for her, considering her breakup with Conor was partially attributed to her being in love with the idea of dating a Kennedy, not necessarily being in love with the Kennedy she was with. However, The New York Post (via The Winnipeg Free Press) reports that there were other factors in the split as well.

"Conor has gone back to school, and the deans at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts are not happy about him jetting around with Taylor," a source told Page Six. "He was due to attend an awards ceremony with her at the end of the summer, but the school chiefs put the kibosh on it. He can't just leave school to be with her at every point."

When the award was first announced, many were skeptical that Swift's chumminess with the Kennedy family influenced their decision to honor the starlet with an award that was previously given to the likes of Bono, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bill Clinton and Al Gore. (Though one can easily argue that the frequency of its being awarded to Democratic Party leaders could be just much nepotism as Swift smooching one of the relatives, right?)

However, the foundation was quick to kibosh the rumors, with its president Kerry Kennedy telling press, “What strikes me most about Taylor is the work she does away from the spotlight — her leadership in the movement for arts education, her generosity to communities devastated by natural disaster and especially the compassion she’s shown as a proud defender against bullying and LGBTI discrimination. As my father Robert Kennedy said to the students of South Africa in 1966, our world’s hope rests with our youth.”

Now the only thing left to be skeptical about is her trademark "surprised" face. Since she knows she's nabbing this title in advance, if she shows any shock, we'll know once and for all that's it's feigned!
