I was driving up Western Avenue in Augusta yesterday and noticed that KFC had closed. Granted, I am not a huge fan of the franchise, but they did have a good buffet that I would occasionally hit for lunch. This KFC had been there for decades, and I remember when I got my drivers license in high school (many years ago) it was one of the first places I hit. So it is always sad to me when a long established local business closes their doors.

This piece of land on Western Ave is a primo location, and I doubt it will be vacant for long. So I asked my coworkers here at the radio stations what would they like to see go into this building. There is probably enough fast food joints in Augusta, but here is the top 5 places we would like to see come to Augusta.

1) Chick Fil A

Chick Fil A has a store in Bangor. Why not Augusta?

2) Sonic Drive-in

Sonic has 4 stores in Massachusetts, but nothing here in Maine.

3) Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

There are a couple of Popeye's in southern Maine, but why not replace a chicken joint with a different chicken joint in Augusta?

4) Krispy Kreme

I used to Love Krispy Kreme when I lived down south. And would love to see them open up a store in Augusta.

5) White Castle Burgers

White Castle is the home of the slider, and extremely popular down south. An Augusta store might do good.

Those are five places the crew here at Townsquare Media Augusta/Waterville wouldn't mind seeing come to Central Maine. What about you? If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to comment on our Facebook page.

And if you still need your Kentucky Fried Chicken fix in Augusta, the store on Civic Center Drive is still open and eager to serve you.
