Johnny Depp joined Kesha and Patrick Carney of the Black Keys at Petty Fest to perform 'Last Dance With Mary Jane,' and it was just as epic as you'd expect.

Flanked by Nicole Atkins, Corey Chisel and the Cabin Down Below Band, Kesha sipped a beer onstage and took turns belting out Tom Petty's hit. (We bet she got along great with Depp, who recently invited One Direction to sip whiskey at his place once they all turn 21.)

Petty Fest went down on Nov. 14 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles, with proceeds going to Sweet Relief’s General Musicians Fund, a charity that provides money for artists' medical expenses and other necessities like housing, food, utilities, clothing, transportation, program services and counseling. This particular event raised funds for Hurricane Sandy relief.

While it seems like a pretty random gang of musicians onstage, the cannibal queen actually collaborated with Carney on 'Warrior,' so there's a familiarity and fondness there. The Americana rock that made Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers famous is also close to Kesha's heart and reflected in her recent releases, including her cover of Bob Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.'

Kesha was pretty starstruck by the experience, tweeting, "just got off stage w/ Johnny depp and patrick carney. wet dream? nope. REALMUTHAF---IN LIFE. #PettyFest." She summed up the experience the way a lot of Animals would sum up her very existence: "Life is weird and magical."
