James E. Fleming, 17, of El Paso, TX has learned that if you can't crack open a stolen safe the first time don't come back and try again the next day, especially if it's in a police officer's back yard.

Fleming took the safe from a local church and carried it to a nearby back yard, which happened to be the residence of a local police officer. He then tried to open the safe with a screw driver. After unsuccessful attempts, he left the safe and returned the next day to renew his efforts, where he was confronted by the off-duty police officer. Fleming fled but was apprehended a short time later.
