Kristen Bell + Dax Shepard Named Hollywood’s Sexiest Vegetarians [UPDATED]
This is the first couple to ever receive the honor, with Bell being a vegetarian since she was a teen and Shepard going even farther and becoming a vegan in January 2012.
"I didn't like to eat meat: I didn't like to chew it, didn't like the taste or smell of it, and just wasn't having any of it," Bell said of her childhood. "I was in the minority of kids who actually loved fruits and vegetables. My mom, who was a nurse, was very supportive of my choice to become a vegetarian."
As for Shepard, he credits veganism for feeling better, telling Playboy, "It’s nothing like the pill in The Matrix but [I feel] damn good, like 15 percent across the board in every respect. I sleep 15 percent better. My allergies are at least 15 percent better. I have fewer body aches. My skin looks better. I'm never starving, and I never need to ride the couch feeling completely full and disgusting."
"Whether it's to improve their health, preserve the environment, or help stop cruelty to animals, Hollywood hotties are proving that meatless meals have never looked (or tasted!) so good," PETA posted along with the poll results.
Prior "sexiest vegetarian" winners include Bell's 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' co-star Russell Brand, Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Carrie Underwood, Leona Lewis, Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Prince.
UPDATE: Oops. Dax had to turn down the honor since he's been eating chicken for several months now. But PETA isn't upset, saying, "We're delighted to recognize Kristen Bell as our Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity. She sets a wonderful example of kindness to animals and healthy living to her countless fans, including Dax!"
