Leonard Wallace says he is "overwhelmed" by the accolades coming his way since he rescued a woman and two children from a sinking car.

On Thursday, members the Maine House of Representatives jumped to their feet and applauded Wallace and his wife, Rosemary, as the couple stood in the well of the chamber.

Leonard Wallace on Saturday rescued the passengers of a car that was sinking in Fox Pond in Township 10. The car had crashed into the pond after missing a curve. The 60-year-old Wallace, who had been fishing, waded out to the partially submerged car and pulled 2-month-old Tanner Kjenstad, 3-year-old Georgia Parker and the children's mother, 38-year-old Mandi Parker of Jonesboro, to safety.
