Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' is a biopic we've had our eyes on for some time now. That first trailer was breathtaking and looked like Spielberg in big epic mode, and Daniel Day-Lewis looks startlingly good as one of our nation's most beloved presidents. The film screened in New York tonight, so what are the critics saying on Twitter?

We've got a round-up of reactions from the first screening of 'Lincoln' in New York this evening, and reactions seem to range from positive to middling (and even humorous!), but we'll let you decide:

Edward Douglas (@EDouglasWW): Lincoln's a real winner... Spielberg's best movie in years, but the security at the event sucked s--- and really put a damper on the night.

David Ehrlich (@davidehrlich): LINCOLN (C). Abraham Lincoln: Vote Hunter. best movie ever made for A&E? Spielberg restrained. Musty, redundant, bearded. ddl & tlj = great

Rudie Obias (@Rudie_Obias): "Lincoln" has a great sense of humor. It's a very long and at times not very dynamic but it's really what you think it is...

Matt Patches (@misterpatches): Spielberg's Lincoln turns a defining moment in history into a human story. Day-Lewis is dynamic, but it's a great ensemble piece. Lincoln is heavy on the politics. But I loved all the behind-the-curtain government stuff. Kushner's playwright roots all over it. And man, there is so much comedy in Lincoln! Spielberg doesn't shy away from the craziness of Congress, even in a dire scenario.

Bilge Ebiri (@BilgeEbiri): Spielberg's LINCOLN is the best film Roberto Rossellini never made. Also one of the best Spielberg did make.

Katey Rich (@kateyrich): Lincoln's got the best ensemble of bearded character actors ever. The quality of the movie varies wildly based on how many are on screen. Best parts of LINCOLN are the 19th century In The Loop you never knew you wanted. The rest can feel like a bear.

Eric Kohn (@erickohn): There are enough bearded men yelling at each other in LINCOLN to make AMISTAD look like a John Woo film.
