'Liz & Dick' Lifetime's TV biopic about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's lifelong love affair debuts tonight (Nov. 25) at 9:00 pm. What are the reviews saying? Well, it's not pretty. Not pretty at all!

According to People Magazine, Lindsay Lohan is completely miscast as Elizabeth Taylor. She "...makes a reckless but brave dive into a pool that anyone can see is empty. And yet she survives. She captures none of Taylor's generously displayed voluptuousness, none of the sloppy good humor that endeared her to the public – not even that glass-scratching voice."

The Hollywood Reporter says the movie is "spectacularly bad." "Both an awful mess and an instant classic of unintentional hilarity."

Maureen Ryan of the Huffington Post says all the movie "really does is make you sad about what's become of Lindsay Lohan, and wonder at the motivations of the filmmakers who put her in this cheap-looking, exploitative movie." "In 'Liz and Dick,' she delivers Taylor's clunky lines with a flat Valley Girl tone and flounces around the production's ticky-tacky sets with lazy brattiness, not grand hauteur."

Variety has the kindest words saying Lindsay as Liz is “adequate, barring a few awkward moments.” Welcome back, Lindsay. You are now adequate.

Is it Lindsay or the movie itself...or the topic. I think the NY Daily News sums it up best:

It's tempting to say the movie's big problem is that Lohan is no Liz Taylor. And she isn't - though that's not entirely her fault. There aren't all that many actresses, or women, who can stop a room simply by walking into it. Liz Taylor in her prime could do that.
