Maine High Schools Raise Money with the ‘Battle for Breast Cancer Central Maine Field Hockey Challenge’
The annual ‘Battle For Breast Cancer Central Maine Field Hockey Challenge’ is (7/19) Friday at Thomas College in Waterville starting at 3:25pm. Money raised will benefit the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center in Farmington.
Schools supporting the cause are the original four teams: Mt. Blue, Nokomis, Skowhegan and Winslow. Also playing will be Lawrence, Leavitt, Messalonskee, and Mt. View.
Messalonskee coach Katie McLaughlin told the Kennebec Journal, “It’s something we heard about last year, and we just thought it was a great cause,” McLaughlin said. “We love that all the money goes locally. It’s just nice to be part of such a huge community effort that helps others.”
Admission is $5 for adults and just $2 for students.
