A winery in the Kennebec Valley? You bet!

Tree Spirits, Fairfield Street, Oakland features hand crafted wine and distilled spirits.

An example of their offerings is the Apple Extra Dry that actually starts with fruit grown right here in the Kennebec River valley. Our climate is ideal for the apples sweetened by late season frost. These apples yield a sparkling wine that is dry and well balanced.

How about maple wine? What...why not? It's called Maple Demi-sec. It's slightly sweeter than the Apple Extra Dry, with a distinct maple flavor. They recommend to serve it chilled. I bet it's great with dessert.

Their wines are award winning (from the Tree Spirits website):

In April 2011, Tree Spirits Knotted Maple was awarded a Bronze Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. In June 2011 Tree Spirits Apple extra dry was awarded a Double Gold Medal and the Maple demi-sec was awarded a silver medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. In April of this year, Tree Spirits Pear Brandy won a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Their wines and spirits are available at their tasting room in Oakland and at over 40 retail locations around the state. See Tree Spirits, Saturday August 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 'Made in Maine Expo' at the Colby College Field House.
