With the summer travel season just two weeks away, gas prices inched slightly higher this week in Maine. According to GasBuddy.com, the average for a gallon of gas in Maine was up by just a half a cent per gallon this week for a statewide average of $2.299.

Nationally, the average for a gallon of gas is at $2.22 a gallon, that's 1.5 cents higher than last week.

The lowest gas prices reported in Maine was in Kittery at $2.13 per gallon.

Oklahoma has the lowest gas prices in the country with an average of $1.97 per gallon. Six states still have an average gas price of less than $2 per gallon.

New Hampshire has New England's lowest average gas price at $2.17 per gallon.
