What?! Maine may be outgrowing one area code? The state could run out phone numbers by 2019. The reason we're on pace to run out of numbers by decade's end is largely due to the numbers of devices we all have, even iPods have phone numbers.

Another reason we're running short on numbers is, many large businesses use hundreds of phone numbers behind their mazes. For instance "line one" is a different phone number than the one you called often.

Maine has 102 prefixes, (ex. Augusta, 622, 626, 623) and 6.7 million users, we only have about one millions numbers left.

A long story short, we in Maine will eventually have to get a second area code.
