277 Mainers Will Be Running In the Boston Marathon on Patriot’s Day

The 118th running of the Boston Marathon will be one of the most emotional ever following the bombings of last year. The State of Maine will be well represented when runners depart from the town of Hopkinton to start their 26 mile journey to Boston. Among the 36,000 participants form around the world, 277 of them come from Maine, including the most well known runner from the state, Joan Benoit-Samuelson.
