Maine’s Congressional Members Not Happy About Cutting Saturday Mail Delivery

Members of Maine’s congressional delegation are not that thrilled with the U.S. Postal Service’s idea to cut out Saturday mail delivery. They feel it would hurt rural communities and Maine is mostly a rural state. 

However, the postal service says they have to do something about their severe revenue shortages and heavy debt in recent years. They are working on other changes and have already scaled back some hours for smaller post office locations.  For the most part customers have said shifting to five-day letter delivery is preferable to increasing costs. Now if you are expecting a package, don’t worry. The delivery of packages door-to-door on Saturdays will continue. IF all goes as planned, the change would happen in August.
