Phew, back from vacation.  Not just any vacation, but a trip to a foodie city, New Orleans. I have to tell you I was nervous about this vacation and maintaining my recent weight loss.  Well, I did it.  In fact I lost two pounds. Thank you ‘Mend-A-Body Solutions For Wellness & Waistline Management’ for helping me to help myself.

I have been doing MABS since October 26, 2013 and I have had my ups and downs, but I have had my support from the MABS coaches to help me navigate the bumps and to learn from them.  Because I had three months of learning under my now smaller belt, I was able to do it. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed my vacation; I was in New Orleans! NOLA is known worldwide for the Café DuMonde and its beignets. A beignet is a little fried dough with powered sugar. It is sort of like a little doughnut. There was no way I was going to skip that! I ate a beignet and a half. I had been so looking forward to that moment. Gotta admit, I was not impressed. It tasted greasy to me, but about an hour after I had my treat, I had the worst headache you can imagine!  Fried, refined flour and sugar is not my friend.  I enjoyed the moment, but I learned a lesson on food choices.

I ate what I wanted and tried many of the food offerings that New Orleans had to offer.  After all, the last three months has been about learning new eating habits I felt I could make wise choices at every meal. The week did include a couple of treats and again my body reminded me how refined and over-processed flours and sugars do not make me feel well. Since I don’t drink soda or alcohol, water was my drink of choice and tasty real food choices were everywhere so it was not hard keeping  to a heath eating pattern on vacation. Add to that a little extra walking to get around, I had a great vacation and  weight loss!

In hind sight, I would have done a few things different. Since our hotel had a mini-fridge and microwave I would have worked harder to find a grocery store and stocked up on even more healthy choices that the few I found at the neighborhood corner store. (And duh, that would have saved me some money too!) Second, I should have worn a pedometer to track just how much walking we did.

For me MABS has been an amazing journey to weight loss. Since they care about YOU and YOUR needs, I can’t tell you exactly what your experience will be. For me it was the support and problem solving, that was a big difference.  Want to feel better and be healthier due to a reduction of inflammation in your body AND lose weight?
