Mila Kunis Dubbed a ‘Dirty Jewess’ by Anti-Semitic Ukrainian Politician

Igor Miroshnichenko may have a name that’s hard to pronouce, but it really doesn’t matter — right now many of the world’s Jewish organizations are just calling the Ukrainian politician “mud” after he went on a Facebook rant and called Mila Kunis a “dirty Jewess.”

In the message, Miroshnichenko said the Ukrainian-born Mila isn’t a real Ukrainian because she’s a “zhydovka” — which, if your Russian colloquial slang is rusty, is an anti-Semitic slur that came about during the Holocaust.

After protests by local Jews, the Ukrainian government told them that the word really isn’t offensive because it’s in the Ukrainian dictionary as a general term for a Jew, and not necessarily a derogative one.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles didn’t buy that and wrote a letter to the Ukrainian Prime Minister to “express our outrage and indignation against the slanders … directed against the Jewish community in the Ukraine.”

Rabbi Marvin Hier went on to write that “zhydoyka” roughly translates to “dirty Jewess” and was originally an “insidious slur invoked by the Nazis and their collaborators as they rounded up the Jews to murder them at Babi Yar and in the death camps.”

He also said Kunis deserves an apology for Miroshnichenko’s vulgar and unnecessary comment, and he beseeched the Prime Minister to “publicly condemn this attack and take measures to defeat the xenophobic forces that threaten your democracy.”

No word from Kunis, who was last seen off in the heartland making Iowans swoon.
