I met Rich, owner of the Stress Free Moose, years ago when I'd go to the pub and eatery to see my late friend, Laurie Cobb, who worked there. I also met Stacey Duncan at about the same time. These two ladies could really make a person feel at home there...

Sadly, Laurie passed away in early 2010. I think of her every time I go to Greenville. I believe she'd be delighted by this news.

So, back to Rich. For about as long as I've been going in there, the bar has been for sale. In the past year or so, whenever I'd go up there with my pal Mike Gagne, we'd talk (and it was just talk) about buying the place from Rich. We agreed we wouldn't need to be at the place much at all because, as anyone who knows her will agree, Stacey has the place well under control.

Many times, Mike and I have sat there "people watching," amazed at how Stacey is able to rule that bar without even trying. Multitasking must come naturally. She can take orders, carry on several conversations and serve customers, simultaneously. Yeah, she'd be the one we'd need to run the place.

This past weekend when Mikey and I stopped in, I told of her of this plan. "We've been talking about taking the bar off Rich's hands and having you run the place," we said.

Without missing a beat, as she served another customer, she turned her head and said, "I bought it!"

"Excuse me...YOU'RE the owner?"

"I close next week."

I was super excited to hear the news. Almost, but not quite, excited enough to yell out, "drinks for the house!"

So, to all my Moosehead pals, enjoy and support the Stress Free Moose! Stacey's sure to be rockin' the Stress Free for a long time to come!
