USDA Under Secretary was in Maine yesterday talking about increase to the federal Summer Food Service Program. That means more kids will be able to have free meal at sites around Maine.

Summer is a toughest time for hungry Maine families. School is out, so kids aren't getting a meal at school. Add in any transportation issues, and it can be much harder for Maine kids to get to a program that serves breakfast or lunch. It is a little better this year. Maine has 80 new sites this year for a total of 307 all around the state. This is the first year that there is at least one site open in every county in the state.  Know someone in need?
