A Troy woman is facing charges for the death of her infant son.

Waldo County Sheriff's Deputies, Unity Ambulance, and the Troy Fire Department responded to the home of 32-year-old Miranda Hopkins early Thursday morning after she called 911 to report her baby was unresponsive.

Seven-week-old Jaxson Hopkins was pronounced dead at the 211 North Dixmont Road home at around 2:30 a.m. and State Police detectives were called to investigate.

An autopsy was performed Thursday by the State Medical Examiner's Office, but authorities aren't releasing the cause of death.

Hopkins was arrested Friday evening and charged with murder. Her two other sons, ages 6 and 8, are now staying with relatives.

Hopkins is expected to make her first court appearance on Tuesday.
