Jocks -- we love to hate them. Especially at the movies. Whether they are football players, lacrosse stars or even the rare skiing celeb, the stereotypical jock has been the epicenter of many of our favorite films. They were tough, attractive (often) and usually got the girl-- what's not to like? Sure they were cocky, but wouldn't you be too in their situation?

So to remember the jerks (sorry, jocks) who made the high school days of the masses miserable, let's take a look at some famous film jocks then and now.

  • Scott Caan, 'Varsity Blues'

Then: Scott Caan is the son of the legendary actor James Caan. He made his film debut in 'Star Struck' and worked his way through 'Bongwater' and 'Nowhere' before landing a role in 'Enemy of the State.' His next film would be 'Varsity Blues,' where he played the loud-mouthed, sarcastic jock who may have had a drinking problem.

Now: Caan went onto quickly step out of his father's shadow with successful roles in 'Gone in Sixty Seconds,' the 'Ocean's Eleven' films and his illustrious television work. He appeared in 19 episodes of HBO's 'Entourage' and now stars as Danny 'Danno' Williams on CBS's reboot of 'Hawaii Five-0.'

  • Paul Walker, 'She's All That'

Then: Walker started working in television in 1985 with appearances in 'Who's the Boss?' 'The Young and the Restless' and 'Touched By An Angel' but switched over to film with 'Monster in the Closet.' By the time he played Dean Sampson in 'She's All That' alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. he had already wracked up an impressive resume.

Now: Walker went on to gain international recognition with 2001's 'The Fast and the Furious,' for which he would appear in a few sequels as Brian O'Connor as well as the upcoming sixth entry. Perhaps a result of his 'Fast and Furious' role, Walker is a car enthusiast, competing in the Redline Time Attack racing series.

Then: Actor Peter Facinelli played high school jock/future waste of life Mike Dexter in the 1998 film 'Can't Hardly Wait.' Like many jocks, Mike Dexter would peak in high school. Facinelli, however, was just three years into his resume and certainly hadn't peaked yet.

Now: Things appear to be going quite well for Facinelli, who has appeared in the 'Twilight' films and on 'Six Feet Under.' He currently stars alongside Edie Falco in the Showtime series 'Nurse Jackie.' Last year, he sat in as director for seven CollegeHumor Originals.

  • Emilio Estevez, 'The Breakfast Club'

Then: As the somewhat reluctant jock (who was pushed into wrestling against his will) in 1985's classic 'The Breakfast Club,' Emilio Estevez had already had a couple successes under his belt before playing Andrew Clark, having been seen in 'The Outsiders' and 'Repo Man.'

Now: Estevez went on to appear in 'Young Guns,' 'Men at Work' (with brother Charlie Sheen) and 'Freejack' before hitting mega-stardom with 'The Mighty Ducks.' The franchise (along with 'Breakfast Club') would become his most famous yet. He also wrote, directed and acted in 2006's 'Bobby,' the assassination story of Robert F. Kennedy, and 2010's 'The Way.'

  • Seann William Scott, 'American Pie'

Then: Before playing the iconic Steven Stifler (or the Stifmeister) in 1999's 'American Pie' Seann William Scott had only appeared in a few TV shows like 'Something So Right' and 'Unhappily Ever After.' However, his first film role would set his career ablaze.

Now: Stifler went on to become Scott's most famous role, a character that might even be considered legendary in the "film jock" category. He would reprise the part for the film's sequels. Outside of the 'American Pie' franchise Scott found success in 'Role Models,' 'Southland Tales' and offering his voice for the role of Crash in numerous 'Ice Age' films.

  • Jesse Metcalfe, 'John Tucker Must Die'

Then: Metcalfe began his career in 1999 with a role on the insane NBC soap 'Passions.' He would appear in 'Smallville' and 'Desperate Housewives' before starring in his film feature film, 'John Tucker Must Die.'

Now: Metcalfe has moved on to act in a few movies but would find more success in television. He played John Rowland in 'Desperate Housewives' until 2009. Afterwards, he would appear in 'Chase' until his latest role as Christopher Ewing in the reboot of 'Dallas.'

  • Kevin Bacon, 'Animal House'

Then: Before we were all within six degrees of separation from him, Kevin Bacon had his first film role in 'Animal House,' playing Chip Diller, the recent pledge of the Omega Theta Pi Fraternity who delivered the famed line: "Thank you sir. May I have another?" In the end his devotion to the frat left him on the receiving end of a stampede of panicking parade attendees.

Now: Bacon's career soared after his 'Animal House' role, appearing in 'Diner,' 'Footloose' and the cult classic 'Tremors.' He'd receive great recognition for appearances in 'A Few Good Men,' 'JFK,' 'Apollo 13' and many more. Acting aside, Bacon is an avid music fan who has a band of his own with his brother Michael called The Bacon Brothers. Together, they have released six albums. He currently stars as FBI Agent Ryan Hardy on FOX's 'The Following.'

  • Donald Gibb, 'Revenge of the Nerds'

Then: Before his acting career took off, Donald Gibb briefly played for the San Diego Chargers. However, he soon caught the showbiz bug and decided to become an actor. He played the dimwitted jock Fred "The Ogre" Palowakski in 'Revenge of the Nerds,' a role he would take on again for the film's sequel.

Now: Gibb's career would soon include a string of martial arts pictures, including 'Bloodsport' and its sequel. Today -- aside from a 2008 role in 'Handcock' -- Gibb can be seen in the Capital One credit card commercials as a viking.

  • Andrew Keegan, '10 Things I Hate About You'

Then: Keegan had his first film role in 1994's 'Camp Nowhere.' He would find success in television ('Boy Meets World;' 'Party of Five') before hitting the '10 Things I Hate About You' set in 1999, playing jock/aspiring model Joey Donner.

Now: After '10 Things I Hate About You,' Keegan would finish out his '7th Heaven' run in 2004 and go on to be seen in 'House,' 'CSI: NY,' 'Cruel World,' 'Love, Wedding, Marriage,' and the more recent 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.' This year he will play Nick in the film 'April Rain.'

  • Chris Evans, 'Not Another Teen Movie'

Then: The role of Jake Wyler was Chris Evans' second film credit, after having worked in 'The Newcomers' and the television series 'Opposite Sex.'

Now: Even though Evans went onto appear in a few television shows (including 'The Fugitive,' 'Boston Public' and 'Robot Chicken') his real success came in film. He played Johnny Storm in 'Fantastic Four' (as well as it's sequel) and found worldwide fame with 'Captain America: The First Avenger' as well as the mega-blockbuster 'The Avengers.' He is currently filming 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.'
