On Monday morning (Feb 16), Mt. Washington was officially the second coldest place in the entire world. The South Pole in Antarctica was the only place colder at -51 degrees Fahrenheit. Mt. Washington recorded -35 degrees.

According to WCSH, Mt. Washington observers said in these type of conditions, they can only be outside for a very short amount of time. Mt. Washington also saw 141 mph winds Monday, the highest gust since 2008 during Hurricane Sandy. Despite the wind and temperatures, the weather observers at Mt.
