It's not the most important issue probably facing state government in New Hampshire, but it sure is an interesting one. I can just imagine the uproar if a similar proposal would be presented in Augusta. New Hampshire's House will vote this week on whether lawmakers should get free, yes FREE ski passes for Cannon Mountain.

They don't want to just ski free, they also want the access to be unlimited. By the way, a one day lift ticket costs about $70 for an adult and opponents point out that if house members took advantage of the perk a half dozen times, the value would be worth twice as much as a lawmakers' biennial salary.

Proponents of the bill argue that having open access to state parks would help promotes awareness. The good news for residents of the Granite State is that the majority of the Legislative Administration Committee is recommending to kill the bill.
