OMG..I am really considering going back to using good ol’ cash. NOW…the Maine Bankers Association said we have something new scam to be aware of.  The new scam targets Mainers by using automated calls and real debit card numbers. According to WCSH, Maine banks have heard from customers who have received automated calls that are representing banks. The automated system notes the customer's debit card number. That is the make it sound legit by using YOUR number to convince you it is real!! The automated call then asks you provide specific details such as social security number. The Maine Bankers Association said the scammers are looking for additional card holder information so they can go do whatever scammer business they had in mind. Hey, remember no bank will ever call a customer to ask for personal identifying information. Also, and this is just me spouting off…if you ever get a call like that just hang up and call the bank or whatever office or agency that says you owe them money. If it is real it will not hurt to take the extra five minutes to call them back and verify it is real.
