One Direction fans in New York City got a little too overzealous with poor Harry Styles this week.

The 'Best Song Ever' singer was mobbed beyond comprehension outside of his hotel and almost had a meltdown -- but still kept his cool enough to engage with the very fans who terrified him.

On Monday (July 1), Hazza was swarmed with fans outside his New York City accommodations -- so much so that he actually had to get down on the ground and crawl away from them.

"Harry looked really upset and scared. Security cleared a path for him but one girl threw herself at him and the rest followed," a witness said. "He had to crawl under someone's legs to get into his car, security were going crazy and Harry looked like he was going to cry."

What's more, one overly entitled Directioner demanded attention from him and flipped out when he refused -- which he only did because she got physically aggressive.

"She grabbed his arm and said, 'Harry can I take a picture?' And he was like, 'You're not taking a picture by grabbing my arm,'" the spy relayed. "He was nice to every single fan until she groped his arm."

Styles later returned to the crowd and said he'd take photos with every single fan -- if and only if they left the premises once they got their pics.

"When he arrived back he asked everyone if they would leave if he posed for a picture with each of them," the onlooker said. "Everyone agreed and he spent ages taking pictures after they all got in a line."

Whether or not you like their music (just admit it, you do), you have to heart One Direction's professionalism. Maybe Styles picked up a thing or two from Taylor Swift besides an angry song on her next album.
