Oakland Woman Arrested for Abusing 911 System

An Oakland woman arrested two weeks ago for repeatedly dialing 911 without a good reason was arrested again this week. It was for the same crime. In fact, she has faced the same charge four times.

According to the Morning Sentinel, Roxane Montgomery has been charged with misuse of the emergency 911 system four times in the past 13 months. After her arrest she was uncooperative with police and taken to the MaineGeneral Emergency Room in Augusta for an evaluation. While there she assaulted an emergency room employee. She was charged with assault and violating conditions of release and taken to the Kennebec County jail.

Officials have limited options in dealing with people who repeatedly call 911 and tie up police resources that should be directed elsewhere. However, they have to respond, because what if it really is an emergency for that call.
