One Direction Enlist Morgan Spurlock to Direct 3-D Movie
One Direction stopped by the ‘TODAY’ show yesterday (Nov. 13), and not only did they draw the biggest crowd ever to Rockefeller Center in New York City, but the guys also announced plans to film a 3D movie, something Directioners are surely psyched about.
Well, now it’s been confirmed that Morgan Spurlock, an Academy Award-nominated documentarian (most famous for his film ‘Super Size Me,’ in which he ate McDonald’s three times a day for weeks), has been tapped to direct the guys’ film.
“This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band,” Spurlock said in a statement. “To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.”
Simon Cowell, the brain behind One Direction after forming them into a band on the U.K. version of ‘X Factor,’ is thrilled about Spurlock’s soon-to-be contribution. “I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today,” he said.
Cowell continued, “What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world — this is for them.”
