Watch out, America. Here comes Ryan Chalmers.

The 23-year-old Chalmers, who’s been in a wheelchair his whole life after being born with spina bifida, will travel cross-country in his wheelchair to raise money for Stay-Focused, an organization that helps teenagers and young adults enjoy diving.

Chalmers will set off from Los Angeles on April 6 for a 71-day trip that will end in New York City. Chalmers is a gifted athlete who most recently competed in the Paralympic Games in London last year.

Chalmers, who will push roughly the same distance as two-to-three marathons each day, also hopes to raise awareness that anyone can live a full life:

This whole journey that I'll be doing is to show people that being disabled, you are still able to do anything that you put your mind to. You're not letting it hold you back."

You can track Chalmers’ progress as he makes his way across the US before reaching the Big Apple on June 15.
