On the eve of Sunday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Patriots have released wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins.

Thompkins started on opening day, but has been inactive in two of the three game since. He had six catches for 53 yards.

A year ago, Thompkins rose from an undrafted rookie to a guy who caught 32 passes, four of them for touchdowns.

The Patriots also announced that CB Brandon Browner and receiver Brian Tyms will not be active for the Bengals game. Both players practiced this week after serving four game suspensions handed down by the league.
