If sci-fi movies and shows like Black Mirror and Westworld have taught us anything, it’s that humans tend to be irresponsible with technology — especially when it comes to artificial intelligence, which often develops a mind of its own. The results of which can either be deeply unsettling or totally hilarious, and it’s the latter that Paul Feig is concerned with for his next film project.

That’s refreshing, considering that recent movies and shows about A.I. have skewed to the darker end of the existential sci-fi spectrum. According to Variety, Feig will explore the humorous side of humanity’s relationship with artificial intelligence in Turned On, a new comedy based on a screenplay by Charlie Kesslering, an assistant on James Corden’s The Late Late Show With James Corden.

The story follows a brilliant female engineer who struggles with social interactions, so she creates an android version of herself to serve as her stand-in. Things get a bit complicated when the droid starts to become self-aware, a development that has some serious comedic (and thematic!) potential.

In addition to Turned On, Feig is producing a film based on Elle magazine’s “Supermodel Snowpocalypse” story, and has been in negotiations to helm a new comedy written by and starring Mindy Kaling. That film, which is still untitled, has been described as The Devil Wears Prada meets Broadcast News (and sounds totally amazing). The Ghostbusters director also recently wrapped production on Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn’s still-untitled mother-daughter action-comedy, which hits theaters in 2017.
