Pay Gap Between Women and Men Still Exists in Maine According to Study
Planned Parenthood of New England was in Portland today (04/14/15) at Monument Square to advocate for equal pay for women in Maine.
According to a recent study women in Maine make 81 cents for every dollar a man makes. Maine's pay gap is smaller than the national average which stands at 78 cents.
The gap is closing says reseach and at the rate it's climbing now it won't be until 2057 that men and women are paid the same.
There is a larger gap when it comes to Latina and African American women who make 64 cents for ever dollar a man makes.
