PepsiCo is Yanking Aspartame From Diet Pepsi
If you're a diet soda drinker like me this will be of interest to you. Diet Pepsi will no longer be using aspartame as a sweetener.
After a decline in sales, PepsiCo. will transition from using aspartame to artificial sweeteners sucralose and ace-K (Acesulfame potassium) and should hit store shelves by August of this year.
The new cans will stand out with, "Now Aspartame Free" on the label.
The folks at Pepsi say the taste will remain the same.
PepsiCo will continue to use aspartame in their other diet sodas, including Diet Mountain Dew.
If you’re wondering what Coca-Cola is doing in response, a lot of nothing. There are no plans to change Diet Coke.
Coca Cola says, aspartame is safe and they will continue as-is.
Why is aspartame in question? Some say it can cause cancer.
