The numbers are in, and P!nk's Beautiful Trauma had a massive first week of sales — 408,000 in total, enough to make it the fourth-biggest debut of the year, according to Billboard. Her seventh studio album is her second to hit the top of the album charts, after 2012's The Truth About Love, which moved a comparatively modest 280,000 units.

In one significant respect, Beautiful Trauma is also the biggest overall debut of the year — it sold 384,000 traditional copies (that is, full-album downloads plus CD and vinyl purchases), enough to make it "the best sales week of the year among all acts."

The artist herself said the results made her feel "humbled and grateful":

So far in 2017, Beautiful Trauma trails only Kendrick Lamar's DAMN., with 603,000 first-week sales; Drake's More Life, with 505,000; and Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide), which sold 451,000 copies in March. It's been nearly 18 months since a woman topped P!nk's haul, when Beyoncé's Lemonade hit 652,000 in sales.

This news continues a dominant year for Alecia Beth Moore, during which she received the Video Vanguard award at the MTV VMAs and also performed on Saturday Night Live. Beautiful Trauma has been powered by singles "What About Us" and "Whatever You Want," as P!nk gets ready to mount what is sure to be a sold-out nationwide tour starting in March 2018.
